Built by someone who knows the counter, and someone who knows the code.
PharmaTools is made by two cofounders. One brings pharmacy practice and designs what PharmaTools does, the other built it and runs it. Together they build the phones, faxes, texts, tasks, compounding records and narcotic counts a pharmacy runs on, in one workspace. Built in Ontario, Canada.
The pharmacy side
John Hana
Cofounder
John works in pharmacy practice. When he set out to open a pharmacy, he couldn’t find providers to run it the way a pharmacy should run today: the phones, the faxes, the counts and the compounding paperwork all lived in different places, if they were handled at all. So he designed what he needed: how each screen should work, from the fax pile to the narcotic count. He tried it with a small group of pharmacies run by friends, and he still decides what PharmaTools does next.
The software side
Thanos Gkotsis
Cofounder
Thanos built PharmaTools. The phone lines, the faxing and texting, the inbox, the records, the desktop app and the security that keeps patient data in Canada are his work, and he runs it all day to day. Before PharmaTools he built automation for all kinds of fields: bots that collect data, write reports and keep logs, AI for booking medical appointments, personal assistant automations, and landing pages that get found in search. He’s driven by new ideas and stays on top of new technology.
How it started
Step 1
A pharmacy without the right tools
Opening a pharmacy, John couldn’t find providers for the phones, faxes and records a pharmacy needs today.
Step 2
Built with friends
John designed it and Thanos built it. The first version ran at a small group of pharmacies run by friends, who told us what to fix and what to build next.
Step 3
Open to every pharmacy
Word got around and more pharmacies wanted in. So we started PharmaTools as a company, to open it to every pharmacy instead of a small circle. Today 30+ pharmacies and clinics use it every day.
What makes PharmaTools different
We use it every day
Both cofounders use PharmaTools every day. When something is slow or confusing, we feel it too, and we fix it.
Built with pharmacy teams
We work hand in hand with pharmacy owners, managers and staff. Features start from what a pharmacy team actually does, not from a generic office tool.
Better every week
We ship improvements most weeks, most of them from what pharmacies tell us. The changelog lists every one.
